Cytotoxicity
Binding Target Hemagglutinin protein
Mechanism interfering with the fusogenic activity of HA. As revealed by fusion and hemolysis inhibition assays, these peptides specifically blocked the entry of IAV into host cells via the interaction of the pFPs and the HA2 subunit, most likely due to interactions between the N-terminal portion of HA2. The positively charged lysine residues of pFPs strongly interact with glutamic acid or aspartic acid, negatively charged, of the HA2 subunit via ionic contacts and hydrogen bonds
