General Information

DRAVPR ID  DRAVPR0017

Name   Antiviral protein II/III

Sequence

Sequence Length  310

Source  Phytolacca americana (American pokeweed) (Phytolacca decandra)

UniProt ID Q40772

Gene PAP2

Activity Information

Target Organism  HIV-1,TMV

Activity

  • [Ref.10403789]Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-1:inhibition the replication of HIV-1 in human peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PAP-II:IC50=25 nM;PAP-III:IC50=16 nM);
  • tobacco mosaic virus(TMV):PAP-II and PAP-III cause concentration-dependent depurination of genomic RNA purified from TMV.

Structure Information

PDB ID  1LLN

Predicted Structure Download  AF-Q40772-F1

';

Modification  There are two disulfide bonds between Cys57 and Cys284, Cys106 and Cys123.

Comment

The potent antiviral activity of PAP may in part be due to its unique ability to extensively depurinate viral RNA. The protein has 2 forms, PAP-II and PAP-III, which differ in their seasonal expression.
