Comment
25HC has been shown to have broad antiviral activity by inhibiting the host cell entry of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV), Zika virus (ZIKV), Ebola virus (EBOV), Nipah virus (NiV), Russian spring-summer encephalitis virus (RSSEV), porcine viruses (PEDV, PEGV, porcine intestine coronavirus), reovirus, and norovirus. For ZIKV, treatment with 25HC protected mice and rhesus monkeys from ZIKV infection.
